When baby chimpanzees are born they are completely helpless like humans infants. They can’t even grip or hold on for some time. At Jane’s age they start to explore grasping and moving around but still attached tightly to mom. At Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection we try to replicate what they’d be doing and learning with their real mothers in their natural setting as much as we are able (we get in trees with them but unfortunately have a hard time getting to the top of tall ones).
