On February 21, 1993 WCW SuperBrawl III was held at the Asheville Civic Center in Asheville, North Carolina. The main event was a “White Castle of Fear Strap” match between Big Van Vader (with Harley Race) and Sting. After a DDT and some stiff punches from Sting, Vader began to bleed from his ear, which worsened as the match progressed. On May 22, 1994 WCW Slamboree: A Legends Reunion took place at the Philadelphia Civic Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was the second Slamboree produced by World Championship Wresrling. In the main event, Sting defeated Big Van Vader (with Harley Race) for the vacant WCW International World Heavyweight Championship. Vader was originally scheduled to wrestle Rick Rude, but Rude had to be replaced by Sting as Rude had suffered a career-ending back injury in Japan, in a match against Sting.
