Driving toward the final tornado of the Arnett sequence last month. This tornado occurred directly after the EF-3 and was part of the same mesocyclone’s occlusion. I chose not to go north on the highway toward town, instead skipping a mile east, thinking a new tornado would track in that direction and give me a prime view. Instead, this one made a hard, deviant left turn throughout its life cycle and never came close to my intended spot. Still, the distant view, with a dramatic cut into the base
