Today as we remember the events of September 11, 2001, we honor the heroes aboard Flight 93. Passengers and crew members courageously gave their lives, thereby thwarting a planned attack on our nation’s capital. First responders and residents from the local area saw the smoke plume above the hillside. Arriving minutes after the crash, first responders quickly determined there were no survivors as they searched the smoldering tree line. The Pennsylvania State Police secured the crash site as a federal crime scene. The September 11 attack led to the largest FBI investigation in FBI history.
