Utah Valley University announced on Monday that an external organization will conduct an independent review of campus security measures in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s death. It also revealed plans to create a memorial for the late conservative activist.

Utah Valley University announced that it will host a "Vigil for Unity" on Sept. 19 at the school's indoor arena, the UCCU Center. Kirk was assassinated during a Turning Point USA event on the campus in Orem, Utah, on Sept. 10.

All in-person and online classes will resume Wednesday, and the university is offering counseling and heightened security.

Utah Valley University will gradually reopen this week, after being closed for several days following the assassination of Charlie Kirk during a campus event on Wednesday. All in-person and online UVU classes will resume Wednesday, Sept. 17, according to information released by UVU.

I think a lot of people are scared to return,” said Raymond Lopez, a 26-year-old pre-health student at Utah Valley University. Students including Lopez started coming back to campus Wednesday, a week after Charlie Kirk was fatally shot on campus.

Kirk, 31, was shot as he spoke to a crowd at a Turning Point USA event. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
