Human remains were found on Wednesday by maintenance workers along a highway in Gaston County, according to Gaston County Police. Police said around 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5 the unidentified remains were found on a section of US 321 just north of Dallas.

VALLEY, Ala. (WTVM) - Officials have identified the human remains found in Valley in October 2024. According to the Medical Examiner’s Office, the human remains found in the Riverview area in Valley were those of 36-year-old Donald Wayne Estes of Beulah.

The announcement comes two months after federal law enforcement officials raked sections of the woods in town.

The remains were first found in April 2023, and the FBI returned to the area in December 2024.
