Nearly 2 million homes and businesses faced power outages on Wednesday night just hours after Hurricane Milton spawned multiple tornadoes and triggered flash flooding hours after making landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast— where millions have been told to evacuate as forecasters warn it could be be “one of the most destructive hurricanes on record” for the west-central part of the state.
