Michigan's Goldin was fouled after a layup attempt, but he missed both attempts. Broome helped Auburn retake the lead with 34 seconds left in the first half, while Goldin missed the last attempt before halftime. It was a 30-29 Tigers lead going into the locker room.

The Michigan men's basketball team wasn't successful in clinching a spot in the Elite Eight, falling to Auburn Friday night in Sweet 16.

ATLANTA – Michigan held a nine-point lead in the second half before Auburn’s run doomed Michigan to a 78-65 loss in the Sweet 16. Auburn proved why they are the No. 1 seed with their 20-2 run that put the game away for good.

Auburn alum Charles Barkley decried the ugly first half performance between his alma mater and Michigan on Friday. During halftime of the Sweet 16 matchup in Atlanta, of which Auburn led, 30-29, the CBS analyst said he was “disturbed” and “disgusted” by the Tigers’ 10 first-half turnovers.

Auburn basketball played its Sweet 16 win over 5-seed Michigan less than two hours from campus. That wasn't lost on the Tigers.

Auburn went on a 20-2 run after that moment, spurred by big buckets from Johni Broome, Denver Jones and Tahaad Pettiford. It eventually led to Auburn outscoring Michigan 48-36 in the second half, pulling away with a 13-point victory.
