Artemis II could send astronauts back to lunar orbit sooner than expected, more than 50 years after Apollo 11.

An astronaut from Illinois was introduced as one of 10 candidates selected by NASA for potential future space missions. Find out about the new class.

"When this happens, the only light that reaches the Moon's surface is from the edges of the Earth's atmosphere," NASA wrote. "The air molecules from Earth's atmosphere scatter out most of the blue light. The remaining light reflects onto the Moon's surface with a red glow, making the Moon appear red in the night sky."

Submitting is simple. NASA has set up a dedicated page where anyone can add their name and instantly receive a digital “boarding pass” as a keepsake. All the collected names will be stored on an SD card installed inside Orion, giving ordinary people a symbolic seat on the first crewed Artemis mission.
