The Atlanta Dream made one of the biggest splashes of the offseason by acquiring veteran center Brittney Griner, a two-time scoring champion, 10-time All-Star, and 2014 WNBA champion. Griner’s arrival was expected to boost Atlanta’s frontcourt and give the franchise a true centerpiece for their championship aspirations.
To mark the historic moment, the WNBA team named after the speech – the Atlanta Dream – is launching a program to carry on the legacy of Dr. King's work. The team is working with partners to eliminate $10 million in debt for families in Atlanta. The 3,500 recipients will have debts ranging from $500 to $80,000 erased.

Howard has won Player of the Week on back-to-back occasions to close out the WNBA season. A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces won the Western Conference Player of the Week. Throughout the 2025 season with the Dream, Howard posted 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.
The WNBA fined Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark for Instagram comments made following her team's 77-60 first-round win over the Atlanta Dream. The Fever advanced to the WNBA playoff semifinals after taking a decisive Game 3, sparking Clark's public reveal of her fine on social media.
The Dream shared locations of watch parties for Game 3 ahead of Thursday night's tip-off at 7:30 p.m. at Gateway Center Arena in College Park. The team pointed to Jolene Jolene (Atlanta's first women's sports bar) in Kirkwood and Brake Pad in College Park for watch parties happening Thursday night.
