Japan made history of its own on Tuesday by electing its first female prime minister, Sanae Takaichi, a self-declared admirer of the "Iron Lady."

In a landmark moment for Japan, Ms Sanae Takaichi has risen to the nation’s highest political office and become its first woman prime minister after a parliamentary vote on Oct 21.

PM Takaichi faces challenges including rising prices, a supplementary budget, diplomatic priorities, and reducing Diet seats as agreed with Ishin.
