Dozens of mayors from across the Los Angeles region banded together Wednesday to demand that the Trump administration stop the stepped-up immigration raids that have spread fear across their cities and sparked protests across the U.

Maj. Gen. Scott Sherman said 500 National Guard members have been trained to accompany agents on immigration operations.
Most of the evening was peaceful, with a few protesters turning to vandalism in a tight area -- actions that brought police to move in closer and ultimately work to disperse the crowd.
Trump deployed 4,000 National Guardsmen and 700 Marines to LA against the wishes of Newsom and Bass. Newsom sued the Trump administration, saying they unlawfully "trampled over" California’s sovereignty when they federalized the California National Guard.
Since the start of the protests, the Los Angeles Police Department has arrested 385 people, USA Today reported on Wednesday.
