A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the Pacific coast of Russia in the same area where an even bigger quake hit earlier this year. A tsunami advisory has been issued.

The National Tsunami Warning Center reported that there is no risk for a "destructive tsunami" to Washington state after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake.

A powerful 5.2 magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of Alaska's Aleutian Islands, followed by a 4.8 aftershock just hours later. While no official tsunami warning has been issued, concerns are rising as experts monitor the situation closely.

This summer, dance groups from Atka to Sand Point performed across the 1,000-mile island chain.
