CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( WBTV /Gray News) – An employee was killed Monday at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said that around 9:38 a.m., officers were called to the airport for reports of an employee being hit by a vehicle on the tarmac.

Cargo company Air General is ending operations at a west Charlotte warehouse, which will leave almost 100 people without jobs in the spring. The layoffs will occur on March 31 for people working at the facility at 4706 Yorkmont Road near Charlotte Douglas International Airport, according to Air General.

American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ: AAL) owns PSA, which already has a large presence in Charlotte, operating regional flights on American’s behalf. American is based in Fort Worth, Texas, but runs its second-largest hub at Charlotte Douglas, known as CLT.

The American Airlines’ subsidiary has ties that go back decades in Ohio, and just said it was moving its headquarters to Charlotte.
