President Donald Trump has terminated Dr. Anthony Fauci’s security detail that was being provided and paid for by the National Institutes of Health, a source familiar with the situation tells CNN. It was pulled on Thursday night.

Fauci served as the leading US infectious disease expert during the COVID-19 pandemic, was under security provided by the NIH.

Dr. Anthony Fauci's government security protection was taken away Thursday night by President Donald Trump, a frequent Fauci critic. Fauci joins others who have faced threats and also have had their security removed by Trump.
