TORONTO -- The Detroit Red Wings fell to the Toronto Maple Leafs, 3-2, in the preseason finale for both Original Six clubs at Scotiabank Arena on Saturday night. “I liked a lot of the things that we did tonight,” Detroit head coach Derek Lalonde said. “The handful of NHL guys we brought here I thought competed extremely well.”

The Red Wings concluded their exhibition season Saturday in Toronto with a 3-2 loss to the Maple Leafs. Toronto's Auston Matthews had a power-play goal tying the game, then set up John Tavares on the winning power-play tally, as the Leafs rallied from a 2-1 deficit.

Toronto goaltender Anthony Stolarz stopped 29 shots to earn the shutout victory. Cam Talbot made 23 saves for the Wings, as each of the three Wings goalies (Talbot, Ville Husso, Alex Lyon) continue to put up solid outings.
