P ITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates led for most of the game vs. the San Francisco Giants, but their bullpen couldn't hold onto their slim advantage, losing 4-2 in the series finale at PNC Park. The Pirates lose back-to-back games to the Giants, dropping the second game of the series 8-1 on Aug. 5, making it a series loss.

The Pittsburgh Pirates couldn’t hold their late lead and were defeated 4-2 by the San Francisco Giants in Wednesday’s rubber match at PNC Park. Nick Gonzales delivered a two-out RBI single to give the Pirates (49-66) a lead in the first inning.

Oneil Cruz isn't in the lineup for the Pirates and will come off the bench if he does play against the Giants. This is the first game that Cruz didn't start since the series finale vs. the Minnesota Twins at Target Field on July 13, which came after Cruz suffered a slight injury in the previous game.

Logan Webb struck out 10 in six innings, and the San Francisco Giants hit three home runs on their way to an 8-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night.
