The streak ended just one day shy of tying the current record of 160 days without measurable rain in Phoenix, a record set in 1972. And it's still dry. With the .01 of an inch recorded Wednesday, Phoenix is still 2.68 inches below average since Oct. 1, the start of the water year.

The last time we got rain was Aug. 22, 2024. That makes 2024/2025 the second-longest dry streak in Phoenix's recorded history. The longest dry streak ran from Dec. 30, 1971 to June 6, 1972 — just a tiny bit longer than this past one.

Before Wednesday’s drizzle, Sky Harbor hadn’t had any measurable precipitation since Aug. 22 – that’s 159 straight days of dry conditions.
