Greg Biffle, one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers who became known in his later years for his humanitarian work, died along with three family members in a plane crash Thursday.

Former NASCAR champion Greg Biffle died in a plane crash on Thursday, Dec. 18, in Statesville, North Carolina, the family revealed in a released statement.

Biffle and McFarland used their own helicopters to get supplies to the affected area, including multiple generators.
