Next year’s Medicare Advantage market will be two things at once: remarkably stable broadly, but rife with changes under the surface.

Health insurers Cigna, CVS Health, Humana and Centene on Tuesday released details on their government-backed health insurance plans for next year for people aged 65 and above. The announcements come ahead of the beginning of enrollment for Medicare Advantage plans on October 15,

Humana’s stock was headed for another sharp selloff on Tuesday, toward a more than four-year low, after the government cut its rating on one of the health insurer’s large Medicare Advantage plans because it missed some performance measures.

The insurer’s stock sank to its lowest level in more than a decade after the federal government lowered the rating for one of its most popular plans.

CVS Health and Cigna on Tuesday released details on their government-backed health insurance plans for next year for people aged 65 and above, saying some members would pay $0 premium monthly for prescription drugs.

Higher "cut points" mean Medicare Advantage insurers will continue to have a tough time earning top star ratings — and the bonus payments that go along with them — next year.

Humana said on Wednesday that a lower-performance rating for a widely used Medicare insurance plan hurt enrollments for 2025 and will potentially hit the health insurer's revenue and bonus payments in 2026,

Humana said the total members enrolled in its highly rated Medicare Advantage plans for people aged 65 years and above have reduced for 2025, sending the insurer's shares down about 12% in premarket trading.
