The Manchester Evening News reported on Friday that United were unlikely to complete a deal for Baleba before the transfer window shuts on Monday, September 1. It's understood that Brighton will want at least £100m for the Cameroonian as they look to repeat the business that saw Moises Caicedo leave them for Chelsea.
Brighton have set an asking price of €120 million ($139.4m) for clubs wanting to pursue a deal for Carlos Baleba, sources have told ESPN.
As it stands, United will not change their decision before the market shuts on September 1. United remain in the market for a new midfielder and are expected to turn to Sporting CP captain Morten Hjulmand as an alternative. Sporting are said to be willing to sell the Dane for £50m.
