A lawyer with limited political experience, Luisa González is vying for Ecuador’s presidency for a second time.

Luisa González, the presidential candidate backed by former ex-president Rafael Correa, who is competing vote by vote for first place in Sunday’s elections in Ecuador, claimed to have obtained two percentage points more than President Daniel Noboa and blamed the National Electoral Council (CNE) for not reflecting this in its system.

Luisa Gonzalez is making her second presidential bid in Ecuador with backing from former President Rafael Correa. Her campaign faces the challenge of distancing her from Correa's controversial legacy while promising to tackle the country's crime surge.
