The College World Series game between UCLA and LSU was suspended Monday night after steady rain and lightning moved into the Omaha area.
Arkansas and LSU are scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. here at Charles Schwab Field in downtown Omaha. This is the showcase game of the weekend between the two highest-seeded teams remaining in the tournament and a matchup of All-SEC pitchers Zach Root of Arkansas and Kade Anderson of LSU.
Arkansas’ Gage Wood set the CWS record for strikeouts in a nine-inning game and never let Murray State come close to getting a hit in the Razorbacks’ 3-0 victory.
In a cruel stroke of irony, it was LSU that battled the Arkansas pitchers into submission, not the other way around. The Tigers had 11 two-strike foul balls to extend at-bats and run Arkansas' pitch count up.
