The Army has now confirmed that four soldiers, based at JBLM, likely died when their MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The Army said in a statement that the crash happened in a rural area near Joint Base Lewis-McChord at approximately 9 p.m. local time Wednesday. The four servicemembers were assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), the Army said.
Four servicemembers were aboard a Joint Base Lewis-McChord helicopter when it crashed late Wednesday night just outside of Olympia.
“Good morning. Joint Base Lewis-McChord confirms that a helicopter crashed on the evening of Sept. 17 in a rural area near the installation. The incident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time. This remains a developing situation, and no additional details are available at this time,” the statement said.
