Hurricane Milton is expected to bring strong wind gusts possibly over 90 mph as it exits over northern Brevard county this afternoon. That is expected to bring storm surge of 3 to 5 feet and coincide with the high tide at about 3 p.m., Mecham said.

At least 11 people in Florida have died due to Hurricane Milton, according to confirmed reports across the state. Five of those deaths were in St. Lucie County. Sheriff Keith Pearson first confirmed four died after tornadoes ripped through Spanish Lakes County Club Village and other areas near Lakewood Park in northern Fort Pierce.

Two people were killed in Volusia County after trees fell on their homes during Hurricane Milton, the Volusia Sheriff's Office confirmed. A third death was reported but was possibly caused by a medical emergency and not storm related, VSO said.
