A magnitude 4.3 earthquake near Berkeley jolted many in the Bay Area awake early Monday morning. It originated close to the Hayward Fault.
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA - A 2.0 magnitude quake was recorded near Willow Creek Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
Monday’s quake, the largest in the Bay Area in nearly three years, caused no serious damage or injuries. It occurred along the Hayward-Rodgers Creek Fault. The last major quake there was in 1868. Historically, geologic studies have shown a major quake has occurred on the fault about every 140 to 170 years on average .
WATERBORO, Maine — An earthquake hit southern Maine Sunday night around 9:20 p.m. The U.S. Geological Survey said the 1.9 magnitude earthquake occurred near Waterboro, roughly 6.6 miles under the ground. As of 10 p.m., 49 people had reported to USGS they had felt it.
