Brighton & Hove Albion staged a storming second-half comeback with Danny Welbeck sealing a 3-2 home win over Tottenham Hotspur in a topsy-turvy Premier League clash on Sunday.

Tottenham threw away a 2-0 lead as they collapsed in the second half at the Amex Stadium to allow a rampant Brighton side to score three times.

Brighton, who lost defender Adam Webster to an injury in the early running, barely contributed to the first half, save for a couple of Welbeck moments. He prodded wide from a Mitoma cross when he ought to have done better and also flashed a header wide. The second-half turnaround was remarkable.

The failure by Micky van de Ven or Destiny Udogie to cut out the cross led to Minteh’s opener. Then Rutter was free to receive Mitoma’s pass and run through on goal with no opposition. Worst of all was the third when Udogie failed to stop Rutter’s cross from the right, then Welbeck jumped above Cristian Romero in the box.
