McIntyre has been pursuing Rhodes, and more specifically the title he is holding, for the past few months after sidelining him with an attack following his title victory at SummerSlam.

This is the first singles championship win for Cargill since being signed to WWE two years ago.

"SmackDown" ended with that contract signing and change, with Rhodes caving in to McIntyre and giving up his champion's advantage.
