Officials with the National Weather Service issued a new update Sunday afternoon, with preliminary data indicating that at least four tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma as severe storms track across the state Friday.

Officials say several tornadoes have torn through parts of Illinois and Indiana, downing trees and power lines in an area south of Chicago and overwhelming the 911 center with emergency calls.
According to the National Weather Service Buffalo, the highest risk for severe thunderstorms will occur late Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening. Damaging wind is the primary concern, though an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
The weather service had previously confirmed 12 tornadoes from the March 11-12 storms, bringing the new total to 16 in the state from that severe weather event. The weather service is not expecting any severe weather in Alabama for at least the next seven days.
After a dry start, severe storms are expected to bring a risk of tornadoes and large hail to Oklahoma on Wednesday.
