Despite fan speculation and teases from Joseph Quinn himself, Matt Duffer has confirmed Eddie Munson will not be back for 'Stranger Things' season 5.
The highly anticipated “Stranger Things” conclusion is worthy of the big screen. Screenings of the upcoming series finale will be held in over 350 movie theaters in the U.S. and Canada on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. The two-hour episode will also premiere on Netflix on Dec. 31.
In an interview with Empire published on October 20, 2025, the Duffer Brothers, a.k.a. the creators and showrunners of Stranger Things, shut down the rumors started by Quinn to confirm Eddie sadly won't return for the show's final season.
Stranger Things' final episode will be released on Netflix and in select theaters on December 31 and January 1 to mark the end of the series.
