Severe storms and isolated flash flooding are expected across the country over the next three days, beginning in the Southeast

Showers and storms are expected to continue Thursday. Some breaks in rain are possible Friday, which could be the warmest day of the year so far, with highs in the mid-70s. More showers and storms are possible Saturday before a front moves through, bringing drier conditions Sunday and Monday with highs in the mid-60s.

Much-needed rain over the next week will bring relief to areas in the central United States that have struggled with drought since autumn.

The main risks will be large hail and damaging winds; however, an isolated tornado is still a possibility.
