There’s no new episode of “Saturday Night Live” on tonight, Saturday, Sept. 13. Season 51 of “SNL” premieres on Saturday, Oct. 4. The host and musical guest for the premiere have not been announced yet, although some fans have speculated that Taylor Swift might appear on the season premiere.
Ego Nwodim is the latest to leave the Saturday Night Live cast. Nwodim made the announcement on Instagram, and rather than let fans guess what happened to cause her exit, she readily offered in her statement that it was her own decision.
Cecily Strong, Chloe Fineman and Jack Black all shared comments following Nwodim's decision to leave the sketch comedy series ahead of season 51.
Bowen Yang is speaking out about the wave of departures from "SNL," including longtime cast member Heidi Gardner.
Over the past 25 years, “SNL” has welcomed and said goodbye to a handful of Black woman comedians: Maya Rudolph (who stops by every now and then), Leslie Jones, Punkie Johnson, Sasheer Zamata were all brought on after 2000. But only eight Black women have ever been official cast members throughout the show’s 50-year run.
Longtime castmember Heidi Gardner is leaving, alongside Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker, while the 'Please Don't Destroy' videos will also come to an end.
The show's cast recently underwent a slew of major changes after Michaels previously teased his plans to "shake things up" last month.
