Polish and allied aircraft were deployed early on Saturday to ensure the safety of Polish airspace after Russia launched airstrikes targeting western Ukraine near the border with Poland, armed forces of the NATO-member country said.
Polish and allied military aircraft were scrambled early Saturday after Russia launched a massive aerial assault on Ukraine including strikes that targeted near its western border with Poland.
On Sept. 15, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, "NATO is at war with Russia. This is obvious, and it does not require any additional evidence."
Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said during his visit to Ukraine on 18 September that his country will cooperate with Ukraine, including in gaining skills in operating unmanned aerial vehicles.
"We will do more to ensure that our people are safe," Polish Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski told Newsweek.
