Giants third baseman Matt Chapman wins suspension appeal, reaches settlement with MLB to accept fine
San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman's one-game suspension was dropped by Major League Baseball and he instead will pay a fine for his role in a benches-clearing incident at Colorado on Sept.
Eldridge, 20, was the Giants' first-round pick in the 2023 draft. He's a 6-foot-7, 240-pound lefty with light-tower power, as evidenced by his 25 home runs in 102 minor-league games this season.
It’s not just a power stroke, either. The Giants are batting .315 as a team in the past 15 days, 39 points better than the next-best team in the majors (the Blue Jays at .276), and reduced their strikeouts to 87, the third fewest in MLB in this stretch.
The Giants' recent surge is a mirror image to their red-hot start to the season. Both stretches lend hope for their near-term future.

Giants top prospect Bryce Eldridge was trying to get through security at the Oklahoma City airport on Sunday after the conclusion of the Sacramento River Cats’ long road series against the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate.
Bryce Eldridge is hard to miss. The San Francisco Giants ' top prospect stands 6-foot-7, and that was a historic number when he made his MLB debut on Monday night. Because the second Eldridge took that field in Arizona to take on the Diamondbacks, he was tied for a Giants franchise record.
Bailey made MLB history in the process. He's the first player ever to have both a walk-off inside-the-park homer and a walk-off grand slam in the same season, according to MLB Network's Sarah Langs.
