ELMONT, NY – Forward Bo Horvat registered a hat-trick, including the game-winning goal on the power play with 4:46 left in the third period, to sink the Edmonton Oilers to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the New York Islanders on Long Island at UBS Arena on Thursday night.

Barzal’s breakaway off defenseman Evan Bouchard’s neutral-zone turnover — Bouchard played horrific defense all game — had given the Islanders a 1-0 lead at 16:23 of the first period. It marked just the Islanders’ second lead of the season. Their first, in a season-opening 4-3 loss in Pittsburgh on Oct. 9, lasted just one minute, 37 seconds.
