East Lansing — Michigan State University's Board of Trustees voted Friday to demolish IM West, a nearly 70-year-old fitness center located next to Spartan Stadium, after a nearly year-long delay.

The MSU Board of Trustees approved a motion to tear down IM West during its Feb. 6 meeting. The building will close as a part of the university's opening of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.
