Apple clarified on Wednesday that it has never sold the data collected by its Siri voice assistant or used it to create marketing profiles, just days after settling a case in which it faced such accusations.

While affected customers await their $20, Apple has shared a statement on how it handles user data in regard to Siri, reaffirming that voice recordings aren't being used to sell you Air Jordans.

Apple has agreed to pay $95 million in a class-action settlement alleging that private Siri conversations were inadvertently recorded and listened to by third-party contractors.

The tech giant, which has a reputation for prizing user privacy, denied that its voice assistant app collected information and used it to create marketing profiles.

Apple said Wednesday its virtual personal assistant Siri protects users data privacy on their devices and does not send user information to marketers.

Apple claims it doesn't record Siri interactions unless users voluntarily opt-in to improve the voice assistant.
