Abortion clinics across the country face increased antagonism and threats of violence after President Trump's recent pardons emboldened anti-abortion protestors who now view the White House as an ally.

One recipient of a pardon, Lauren Handy, led the blockade of an abortion clinic in D.C. When police arrested her in 2022, authorities removed five fetuses from the home where she was staying. This was not normal or sane or reasonable, yet it was done to make a statement about Trump as an opponent of abortion.

On the campaign trail, President Donald Trump said the power to make abortion policies “has been returned to the states.” In his first two weeks in office, he’s already gone further to restrict abortion than any president who’s held office since the 1973 “Roe v.
