An earthquake swept through California’s San Francisco Bay Area yesterday, and scientists say that more could impact the state, potentially with greater severity. Homeowners may be surprised to learn that standard homeowners insurance typically doesn’t cover earthquake damage.
Berkeley, California, experienced two earthquakes on Monday, September 22, 2025. A magnitude 4.3 quake struck early in the morning, followed by a magnitude 3.0 tremor in the evening. The quakes were felt across the East Bay and even as far as Salinas.
ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA - According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 4.3 magnitude quake rattled close to Berkeley Monday morning.
The highest hazard areas are near major, active faults. But strong and damaging shaking is "possible anywhere in California."
Did you feel it? A 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck near the La Verne area of Los Angeles County Saturday. The quake was reported at around 5:11 p.m. according to the United States Geological Survey. The epicenter of the quake was located around 6 miles north of La Verne.
Several moderate earthquakes, including a 5.8 magnitude temblor, have rumbled below the Pacific Ocean off the West Coast.
