With 11 medals and counting, Manitoban athletes are taking over Italy's Piedmont Region with the largest delegation from the province so far at the Special Olympics World Winter Games.

Lake Mills native Annie Mulligan won a gold medal March 14 in the 100-meter snowshoe competition at the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Italy.

Tomas Sliva won the medal in the Novice Super G - M04 alpine skiing competition on Thursday, March 13 in Turin, Italy.

The 24-year-old completed the course in 1:57.450, more than two seconds ahead of the runner up, Mexico’s Alejandro Elias Gonzalez.

Indian athletes had a brilliant fourth day of the competition, winning 13 medals across four different sports.
