HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no tsunami threat after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred off the Kamchatka Peninsula on the east Russian coast. The earthquake occurred at 8:58 a.m. Hawaii time. It is close to an earthquake that triggered a tsunami warning for the islands on July 29.

A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake has struck near the east coast of Russia’s Kamchatka region, the US Geological Survey said.
