At Sunday's Patriots game, fans will have the chance to stop by a pink lemonade stand and contribute to breast cancer research.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Cancer Services of Eastern North Carolina had its Pink Ribbon Run this weekend. Raising awareness is important, as ENC has some of the highest death rates from breast cancer.

In the first year of the pink bins program, Sherman ordered around 300 bins and raised over $17,000 for Women Rock, a local breast cancer nonprofit. “They’ve done things for people in my family before, and that’s really helped them out a lot,” Holland said, “I felt like this would be the ideal project for us and them.”

Men Wear Pink of Lane County held a walk in support of breast cancer awareness at Alton Baker Park on Sunday with dozens turning out in support of the event,

Giddying up for a good cause. In Delavan this weekend, the Pink Turn and Burn Barrel Race was held to raise money for a breast cancer assistance fund. Events in the three day barrel race included horse competitions and a dog costume contest.

Officers with the New York Mills Police Department will be wearing pink patches and badges, replacing their normal gear.

Sharon Carter underwent a double mastectomy and is a survivor of breast cancer. What she went through inspired her to want to help others in the fight and survivors like herself. So she founded the Pink Lady Walk back in 2014.
