California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Friday an investigation into water shortages that occurred as large blazes scorched Los Angeles County this week, making the declaration before the disaster’s death toll reached 11.

The Sunset Fire in the Hollywood Hills follows other blazes in the L.A. area, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, that have displaced tens of thousands.

At least five people are dead and many more injured as several fires broke out across Southern California amid historically dry and windy conditions.

The Pacific Palisades wildfire and three others burning in and around Los Angeles, driven by powerful winds, have expanded, forcing residents to evacuate, destroying homes and other buildings and clogging roads in the region.
