Pete Alonso has racked up six home runs and 18 RBIs through the New York Mets' first eight games this month, slotting the All-Star slugger into an exclusive club in the MLB history books.

On Tuesday, more historic Alonso news emerged. In his eight games this month, Alonso has posted 18 RBIs, six home runs and two hit by pitches. Only two other players in the live-ball era—Jeff Bagwell (August 2000) and Reggie Jackson (June 1969)—have matched that level of production over any eight-game span.

When he re-signed with the New York Mets last winter, Pete Alonso saw an opportunity to become the team’s career leader in home runs and multihomer games.
