Ed Boon, the co-creator of the Mortal Combat series has revealed that Mortal Kombat 1 has now sold over 6.2 million copies.

Mortal Kombat II releases in theaters on October 24, 2025. All three previous live-action films are streaming on HBO Max.

The 1996 fighter--which packed every character from 2D MK into one game--will be part of Digital Eclipse's collection.

Unfortunately for fans of the series, however, Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios isn't quite ready to reveal a new game.

NetherRealm Studios is now the latest video game studio to suffer from layoffs. As reported by Insider Gaming, the new outlet have confirmed that at least 50 employees have been laid off.
