Muhammad Yunus, interim leader of Bangladesh, met Alex Soros, son of George Soros, highlighting their long-standing relationship. Yunus secured an $11 million loan from Soros in 1999, which helped establish Grameenphone.

Muhammad Yunus, who heads Bangladesh's interim government, sat down with NHK World in New York last month for a rare exclusive interview.

The 38-year-old, during the meeting on Wednesday, called Yunus as an "old friend of my father". He also hailed him for stepping in to lead Bangladesh towards a peaceful future based on "equity and fairness.
