The Dolphins are in the midst of a secondary overhaul after parting ways with both Kendall Fuller and Jalen Ramsey this offseason. Kohou — a former undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M Commerce — is making his bid to be the top dog in Miami’s cornerback room.

In fact, Kader Kohou, who has started 38 NFL games the past three seasons, was the orange jersey player on Friday, which means the coaches selected him as the top performer of Thursday’s practice, which featured him deflecting a pass to Tyreek Hill during 11-on-11 session.

That sets up a make-or-break 2025 for Smith. The Dolphins cornerback depth is wide open following the blockbuster Jalen Ramsey trade, and prior release of Kendall Fuller. This is Smith's best opportunity to earn first-team reps and show the coaching staff that he is ready for a starting role.
