Six people, including four children, died after a two-alarm fire engulfed a home Sunday morning in Charles County, Maryland, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.

The victims were two adults and four children, according to officials. There were nine residents who lived at the house; one adult escaped and two others were not home at the time of the fire. The origin of the fire remains under investigation, but there was no evidence of a criminal act, the Maryland State Fire Marshal said in a post on X.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal confirmed via Facebook that the incident resulted in six fatalities, comprising four children and two adults. One adult managed to escape the inferno. Heavy machinery was deployed to clear debris from the site.
