WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has achieved another major accolade by being ranked #1 in the annual PWI 500 list for the second year in a row.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated 500 rankings dropped on Tuesday, and while the list often results in controversy among wrestling fans, there was a consensus No. 1 for the second year in a row.
Cody Rhodes defeated Drew McIntyre at Wrestlepalooza on Saturday to retain the WWE Championship. After beating John Cena at SummerSlam to become a two-time WWE champion, Rhodes joined forces with Cena on the Aug. 8 episode of SmackDown.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated revealed that Cody Rhodes topped the PWI 500 for a second straight year. He is just the fourth wrestler to top the list in back-to-back years, joining Bret Hart, Steve Austin, and John Cena.
While the build is on to the Oct. 11 Crown Jewel event, the standout moment from Monday's episode of WWE Raw came between Asuka, Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky.
PWI has been ranking the 500 best wrestlers in the business every year since 1991. During that time, while various wrestlers have managed to top the list more than once, Rhodes is only the fourth wrestler to have reached the summit in back-to-back years.
