A plane bound for Los Angeles International Airport from Virginia was diverted to an airport in Colorado on Wednesday after an unruly passenger shouted racist slurs and waved a skateboard, officials said.

The ordeal happened on a Breeze Airways flight that had to divert to Grand Junction, Colorado, after the passenger reportedly yelled racist slurs at flight attendants. The man also waved a skateboard at the attendants, but no one was hit. He additionally broke free from airline staff twice, who were restraining him before the plane could land.
